Tim Hardin serves as the president and CEO of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility (TFR). Texans for Fiscal Responsibility is an independent educational non-profit organization seeking to illuminate the actions of government, educate and equip citizens to effectively advocate for pro-taxpayer reforms, and hold lawmakers accountable for their actions. TFR has addressed hundreds of organizations and groups all across the Lone Star State.

Consistent with their guiding principles, TFR has identified key legislative priorities in the wake of the 88th Texas Legislature. While Republicans maintain a strong majority, there are no excuses for lawmakers to be derelict in their duty to pass commonsense reforms called for by the grassroots. The Texas Prosperity Plan is TFR’s policy goal to achieve a fiscally responsible Texas.

Tim has an undergraduate degree in philosophy and political science from the University of North Texas. He also earned his master’s degree in biblical studies from West Coast Baptist College. Tim is a small-business man and pastor and served as a chief of staff in the Texas House for eight years. He resides in Fort Worth with his wife, Luisa, and their five children, Elijah, Noah, Micah, Jeremiah, and Selah.

Informational Meeting with Cindi Castilla

The Informational Meeting on Monday August 28th, drew a large crowd of serious Bastrop and adjacent Counties residents, as Cindi Castilla from The Texas Eagle Forum shared her knowledge on the status of several key Texas legislation. Many discussion topics are closely related to the Legislative Priorities passed at the 2022 Republican Party of Texas State Convention. Special note was given to those targeting improved Texas’ education, removing pornography from public schools, efforts on the ban of gender modification, the continued effort of illicit drug trafficking and more. Her presentation style encouraged spontaneous questions which worked well to clarify points of information while fresh in the audience minds. The TEF is working to encourage Governor Abbott to include those key legislation in an upcoming special session to ensure they are addressed in a timely manner.

The Bastrop County Republican Party Informational Meetings are held the 4th Monday of every month at 6pm with the goal of sharing issues important to the resident of Bastrop County and Texas as a whole. This month’s Informational Meeting speaker will be Cindi Castilla, President of Texas Eagle Forum.

Cindi serves as the president of TEF, a pro-life, pro- family organization. TEF’s mission is to equip and educate its members to become citizen activists through timely email alerts, a monthly newsletter and her many speaking engagements. Using Biblical principles, the Constitution and a lot of research, TEF focuses on legislation affecting Texas families and has been a consistent and outspoken force in the battle to reverse the decline in public education. Cindi is a commissioned Colson Fellow with a passion to see God’s truth lived out in every aspect of life and culture.

Following the model of the late Phyllis Schlafly, founder of Eagle Forum, Cindi leads Texas Eagle Forum as a full-time volunteer. She and her husband of 36 years raised their three sons in Dallas, Texas and were excited to meet their first grandchild when she was born in June!

Please come and listen to Cindi’s informative, powerful and moving presentation on legislative issues affecting children and grand children in every Texas family.

This months Informational Meeting will feature Dianna Greenwood, Texas State Rifle Association.

Dianna Greenwood is currently the Executive Director of the Texas State Rifle Association. A position she has held since November of 2021. She is the former Chairman of the Bastrop County Republican Party serving in that position from 2018 to 2020. Dianna has extensive involvement in the political world both here in Texas and in another state. She was the founder of the Ashland Ohio Tea Party, a Congressional Campaign Manager, and has participated in numerous elections and campaigns. In addition to her many political activities, Dianna has been a member of the Government Affairs Committee for the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce, the Chairman of the Red, White, and Blue Veterans of Bastrop County, the Bastrop Education Foundation, and a volunteer for the Bastrop Museum. For her work at the museum, she was named a Volunteer of the Year for the City of Bastrop. In November of 2021, her fellow veterans honored her with the Enlisted Veteran of the Year Award.

She is a former adjunct professor for Concordia University teaching American History. From 1995-1997 she was a member of the Marine Corps and attained the rank of Lance Corporal before being honorably discharged. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Arizona and an M.A. from Ashland University. She currently resides in Bastrop, Texas with her daughter, Katharine, and enjoys traveling to historic sites.

This months Informational Meeting will feature Orlando Sanchez of the Texas Latino Conservatives.

Texas Latino Conservatives believes that the future of Texas will be more Hispanic, and more conservative. We are building this future by mobilizing Latino voters to elect and re-elect conservative candidates, recruiting, training, and supporting qualified conservative Latino candidates for local, county, and statewide office, managing issue-based campaigns designed to connect first with compassion and then mobilize voters, and launch long-term education campaign communicating shared conservative values.

Orlando Sanchez (born 14 October 1957 in Havana, Cuba) is an American politician, elected three times as Treasurer of Harris County, Texas (2006), 2010, and 2014.

A naturalized citizen, Sanchez has made political history as the first Latino immigrant to be elected to a citywide position in Houston, when he won the at-large seat on the city council, to which he was twice re-elected in consecutive terms, serving 1995–2001. In 2001 and 2003 he ran for mayor of Houston, gaining an alliance with Republican Anglos and generating high voter turnout in the Hispanic community. Both times he made it to the runoffs. When elected as Treasurer of Harris County, he was the first Latino immigrant to win a countywide, non-judicial elected office in that county.

This months Informational Meeting will feature Kelly Perry, also known as a “Border Warrior”. She is a current SREC Committeewoman for SD 19. Kelly is a Proud Patriot of Texas, and she has served as Legislative Priorities Chair, Sub Committee Border Security; and Border Security Advisor for the National Board of Moms of America. Kelly is Vice President Special Events and Past President for Kinney County Republican Women.

Kelly will discuss her continued full time tasks of fighting the Border Crisis, her efforts working and supporting Legislative priorities, including strengthening penalties for Drug Smugglers and Human Trafficking. Last September Kelly hosted a Border Security Summit at the Texas Capitol, assembling the greatest Border Experts from around the state and nation. Kelly will also be discussing living in a Border County, and how you can make a difference in the fight to save our state and country.

The April BCRP Informational Meeting will feature Austin Prochko. Austin is the Deputy Campaign Director for Next Generation Texas, the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s (TPPF) education-focused campaign. Prior to joining TPPF, he was an educator at private and charter schools, where he taught literature, history, and government. Between his stints as a teacher, Austin worked on various political campaigns throughout Texas.

Austin will be speaking about efforts to empower parents with Education Savings Accounts, which are state-managed accounts that can be directed towards various educational expenses, including private school tuition, instructional materials, certain kinds of transportation, and other education-related expenses.

Austin is the author of Foundations of Freedom: The Layman’s Guide to the Philosophy of the American Founding. He has a B.A. in Politics from Hillsdale College and a Master of Politics from the University of Dallas.

Doors open at 6:00 for networking, and the program starts at 6:30pm.

Informational Meeting ~ March 27th 2023

The March 27th Informational Meeting will feature Rebekah Warwick, Central Regional Coordinator and Lobbyist for Heritage Action for America, based in Mansfield, TX. Meeting location will be announced by email and website update … As usual, the doors open at 6:00pm for networking, and the program will start at 6:30pm.

Prior to Heritage Action Rebekah worked for the Majority Whip of the Colorado Senate Republicans and on various local campaigns in the Denver Metroplex. She holds bachelor’s degrees in history and political science.

As Central Regional Coordinator, Rebekah partners with 4,000 Heritage Action Sentinels and over 125,000 grassroots activists to hold lawmakers accountable and advocate for conservative policies. She is an experienced public speaker and regularly hosts trainings with activists on how to influence the policy debates at the federal and state level. Her editorials have been published in the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram.

Heritage Action Mission:

Heritage Action’s unique strategy combines inside-the-Beltway lobbying with outside-the-Beltway grassroots pressure. They communicate directly with lawmakers in Congress and in our state capitals and work with grassroots on the ground to know the issues and take effective action to influence the legislative process. Through this strategy Heritage Action works to bring about the conservative policies that hold true to our Founding Fathers’ ideals. Heritage Action exists to ensure that these ideals are not only maintained but flourish, both now and for future generations.

The next Informational Meeting of 2023 will be February 27th in Bastrop, at the BCRP Office, Meeting Room. Doors open for networking at 6:00pm with the program starting at 6:30pm. This meeting will feature Wes Virdell, a USAF Veteran, staunch 2A at the state and federal level, and current serves as the Texas State Director of Gun Owners of America.

Here’s a little more about our speaker.

Born and raised in the heart of Texas, Wes Virdell is a veteran and small business owner in the Transportation Industry. Like many hardworking Texans, Wes places a priority on faith, family, and freedom. Wes is 9^th generation Texan and 14^th generation American.

A few short years after graduating from Brady High School in 1998, Wes served in the U.S. Air Force where he worked on Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles and served as a Military Training Leader.

After being honorably discharged from the military, Wes returned to his hometown of Brady and got involved in the fight for the right to keep and bear arms.

Wes started attending committee hearings for gun legislation in Texas in 2011 and was active in the battles for open carry in 2015 and Constitutional Carry in 2021.

Wes has served as a 2020 and 2022 State Delegate for the Republican Party of Texas and as a 2020 National Delegate for the Republican National Convention.

Most recently, Wes served as the Texas Hill Country Coordinator for Gun Owners of America from 2020 to 2022.

With the support of his family and countless liberty-loving Texas patriots, Wes now serves as the Texas State Director for Gun Owners of America and leading the fight to protect our inalienable rights.

November Informational Meeting

The next BCRP Informational Meeting will be held November 28th at the BCRP Office meeting room, located at 443 Highway 71 West in Bastrop. Networking will begin at 6:00pm and the program at 6:30pm. This meeting will feature Bastrop County residents Jennifer and Justin Bezner, who will be speaking on behalf of their organizations, the Bastrop Pregnancy Resource Center and Christians Engaged. The information they’ll be sharing should proved to be very informational. Please plan to attend !!
