Bastrop County Elections Sticker Design Contest

Design Contest to Determine the New 2023-2024 “I Voted” and “Future Voter” Stickers for Bastrop County The Bastrop County Elections Department is conducting Bastrop County’s first “I Voted” and “Future Voter” design contest. The contest is open to all Bastrop County students, K-12, enrolled in a Public, Private, or Homeschool setting. The winning designs will be used as the official “I Voted” and “Future Voter” sticker in the 2023-2024 Election cycle. The Deadline to submit a design is Friday, February 10, 2023, at 5pm.
 
Once all designs are submitted, a panel of 5 esteemed judges will pick the winning design.  Contest judges will be Lyndsey Schroeder, Executive Assistant to the Bastrop County Judge, Christopher White, Communications Specialist, Bastrop Independent School District, Lindsey Saunders, Communications Officer, Smithville Independent School District, Marcial Guajardo, Communications Coordinator, Elgin Independent School District, and Heather Stidham, Superintendent, McDade Independent School District. Judging will be based on theme, uniqueness of the design, and artistry.
 
Winners will be notified by the Elections Department on Monday, February 20, 2023. Those individuals will then be invited to an award ceremony during Commissioners Court on Monday, February 27, 2023, where we will announce the winners to the public.
 
Participants must agree to the contests official rules and submit their design by completing an “I Voted” and “Future Voter” Sticker Design Entry Form. All Submissions must be sent to  by 5pm on Friday, February 10, 2023. More information is available on the Elections Department website at www.bastropvotes.org. or the links below !!

2022 General Election Voter Guide

The Bastrop County Republican Party (BCRP) and Lost Pines Republican Women (LPRW) joined together to generate and mail a 16 page Voter GuideThis 2022 General Election issue is loaded with Candidate information, and will begin arriving in your mailbox early next week.  You’ll also find Early Voting and Election Day polling places, dates and hours, a current list of your BCRP Executive Committee, Officers and Precinct Chairs, as well as information and an application for LPRW membership.

Remember cellphones and other digital devices are not permitted inside the polling place, but you can take the red boxed tear off section of candidates on the last page of the Voter Guide as your helpful notes.

Campaign signs for most of our Republican Candidates are available at the BCRP Office, Tuesday thru Saturday.

The BCRP office is located at 443 Highway 71 West, in the City of Bastrop

Hours are: 10:00am to 2:00pm Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays,  2:00pm to 6:00pm on Wednesdays

October 24th Informational Meeting with RPT Vice-Chair Dr. Dana Myers

Republican Party of Texas (RPT) Vice-Chair Dr. Dana Myers will be speaking at the October 24th Informational Meeting!

This meeting location has been changed to the First National Bank Community Room,  489 West Highway 71 in Bastrop and will start at 6:30 pm.

Dr. Myers is a Medical Business Consultant at the health law firm Spiers Group, she works with a Texas-based investment and development group bringing medical businesses to Texas, and a two-term Vice-Chair of the Harris County Republican Party.  Dr. Myers has held leadership positions in the Texas Federation of Republican Women (TFRW), been the Regional Director for the Republican Party of Texas/TFRW Strike Force, past HCRP Co-Chair of Engagement, past RPT Communications Task Force member, and two-term President of Magic Circle Republican Women’s Club in Houston.  Dr. Myers is married to Dr. Jon Spiers, a former Republican General Land Office Candidate, and is a longtime resident of Houston, Texas.

During her two terms as Vice-Chair of the Harris County Republican Party, Dr. Myers helped to build and rebrand the party to increase its community engagement, communication, and voter registration efforts. With her special interest in training, recruitment, and increasing Republican voter turnout, Dr. Myers led an additional effort to recruit, train, and mobilize county and precinct chairs, and volunteers, across Texas using the latest technology.

At the 2022 Texas State Republican Convention in June, Dr. Dana Myers was elected to be the new Vice Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas.

Get Out The Vote Workshop – September 21st, 2022

Bastrop County Republican Party is hosting a condensed 3 hour “Get-Out-The-Vote Workshop”, Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. The workshop will be held at Casa Chapala, 1800 Walnut Street in Bastrop Texas and presented by instructors from The Leadership Institute.  Preregistration (and $10 fee) is required for the workshop and covers enrollment, course materials, and a meal. The Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) Workshop advances a comprehensive voter contact strategy, and you will learn ways to effectively implement targeted outreach to your supporters.

You will learn how to develop a systematic plan to get the most out of phones, door-to-door, early and absentee voters, and Election Day operations that deliver successful results. Additional on- demand content, which compliments this material, is available to program enrollees.

Ideal attendees for the GOTV Workshop are elected officials, current or future candidates for political office, campaign operatives, party officials, precinct chairs and campaign volunteers.

Attendees will learn how to:
• Recruit and manage volunteers
• Identify and target voters
• Use absentee and early voting tools • Coordinate Election Day activities
• Turn out their voters

How to be a Convention Delegate

PLEASE NOTE: Several precinct convention locations have changed.  If you live in precinct 1001, 1002, 1003, 2010 or 4024, please click the “Check this list” link again to see the new location list.

Why would you want to be a convention delegate?  Convention delegates vote for the GOP Party platform.  Delegates to state convention choose the Party chair who will lead the Texas GOP through the midterms and in preparation for the 2024 Presidential election.  Besides the formal business, you meet like minded people!

The process is as follows:

  1. Vote in the GOP primary or fill out the form to affiliate with the Republican Party.
  2. Attend your precinct convention.  Precinct conventions will be held after the polls close at 7PM on March 1.  Where? Check this list for your precinct convention location.
  3. If you can’t make the convention: Please email Chairman Mike Gepner no later than February 25 at . Include your name, precinct, email address, and phone number in the email. If you have resolutions for consideration by the convention, please bring them to the precinct convention or email them to Mike Gepner.
  4. Be sure you are nominated and vote in as a delegate or alternate to the Bastrop County GOP Convention.
  5. This is a must to be a delegate to the Bastrop County convention.
    1. If you arrive for your precinct convention and no one else is there, you can run your own convention.  There will be a packet with forms that need to be filled out.  Do so, and you’ll have run your first convention!
    2. If more than one person arrives, but no one seems to be in charge, you can run the convention.
  6. When you receive the application to be a delegate to the State convention (June 16-18, Houston), be sure to return it as quickly as possible.  This is a must to be a delegate to the TexasGOP convention.
  7. Attend the Bastrop County GOP convention on March 26 at 10AM at the Family Worship Center, 2425 FM 1704, Elgin.
  8. Be sure you are nominated and vote in as a delegate or alternate to the Texas GOP Convention.
  9. Attend the Texas GOP Convention in Houston.  Meet fellow delegates.  Have fun!
